The chance to work on a project as exciting and as high profile as a well known football stadium does not come up very often. So Connected Light were delighted when we were approached by Integral UK to design and deliver a new lighting solution for Ashton Gate Stadium, Bristol.
“We turned to [Connected Light] as we knew the lighting solution for this project could not simply be provided by one sole manufacturer.” said Mike Zanetti, Integral UK. “Having worked with [Connected Light] in the past we had found them technically knowledgeable and reliable.”
Integral UK were appointed in 2015 as the main contractor for phase 1 of the enhanced fit out of Ashton Gate Stadium. A new Sports Store, Bar & Grill the refurbishment of The Dolman Stand, along with the new South Stand’s concourse were all being covered.
The Ashton Gate timescales for the concept designs and completion were extremely tight. However, the design team at Connected Light were able to comfortably meet the set deadlines, without sacrificing the quality of the lighting solution.
“With our developing network of leading manufacturers we can provide the latest LED and controls technology.” said Matt Holway, Director at Connected Light. “Within the South Stand we were able to illuminate the whole of the ground floor which covered in excess of 1000sq/mts from just two light source points. This space was lit using a linear LED format which produced a uniform light distribution and enhanced the light level requirements.”
We provided a varied range of products for a modern, enhanced lighting solution, whilst maintaining energy efficiency throughout. A hallmark of Connected Light solutions. LED technology was at the forefront of the design with solutions from our world leading partners including Philips, Trilux, Taison and Illuma. Compliant emergency lighting was also installed using the existing central static inverter.

As a member of BS 5266 I am so excited to see such suitable, diligent, compliant processing from Connected Light. BS 5266 pt. 1 is a Code of practice for the emergency lighting of premises. This is the base document that calls up relevant standards and outlines how they should be interfaced. It also details how types of emergency lighting systems should be designed, installed, commissioned, and tested for different types of premises. Installation and wiring considerations are detailed and the appropriate testing and commissioning documentation are defined.
