Thornbury Castle is a historic property, the last Tudor Castle to be built in England. It is a luxury hotel which has recently been recognised by Relais & Chateau as one of the best in the country. The new owners from Dubai have invested heavily in a full refurbishment of the Castle, inside and out, with their own input on the interior and lighting designs.
The new design concept was led by the new owners together with Dynamic Design. The interior decor and final furnishings are exemplary of the Tudor era as well as the choice of handmade chandeliers and wall sconces.
The electrical contractor Electrio’s main aim was to minimise the wiring and cabling due to the restrictions of a listed building and implement a more flexible lighting control solution.
A Casambi control solution is used throughout the whole building as well as outdoors. One of the main requirements that the client wanted was the ability switch/dim each individual light point but with also the ability to switch all light fixtures off with one click from the main entrance switch. The client can now also log in to any network and adjust the settings to their preferred choice, adjust timers and manually control specific colours and sequences, if so wished.
The results are perfect and works exactly how we desired! With the minimalistic approach that Casambi offers, there are no visual elements to detract from the fantastic decor of each room, Casambi is hidden but works seamlessly to offer any variation of control. – Matt Holway, Director, Connected Light.
