Introduction
Unlock the potential of your existing lighting with our Retrofit & Bespoke Solutions at Connected Light. Designed for businesses seeking to enhance efficiency, reduce energy costs, and improve lighting quality without extensive infrastructure changes. Our solutions are tailored to fit your unique needs, ensuring a seamless upgrade to modern LED technology that respects the character of your space.

What We Offer
Our Retrofit & Bespoke Solutions are crafted to offer a new lease of life to your existing lighting systems. By designing custom gear trays that fit into your current fixtures, we enable you to enjoy the benefits of LED technology, such as superior efficiency, longer lifespan, and significant energy savings.
- Product Assessment: We offer to visit site to survey the products requiring the upgrade to retrofit, however we suggest that a donor sample is provided for us to review in more detail. This allows us to create a new retrofit sample for trial and approval
- Design: The new retrofit solution is a bespoke LED gear tray that can be adapted and enhanced in any way to improve the current product or project requirements. Our technical team will talk through the various options available, however this can include the following:
- Wireless Smart Controls – to avoid additional controls cabling, especially in listed building applications where ‘wired’ systems cannot be added.
- Improved Lumen Package – where the original system does not meet latest lux level requirements, the new trays can be enhanced with high power LED & Driver combinations.
- New Diffuser & Louvres – Many old luminaires with traditional parabolic louvres are not meeting the latest design requirements or aesthetic looks when upgrading. We are able to offer new replacement MPO diffusers to compliment the new gear trays which improve distribution and appearance.
- Emergency Uplift – Any type of emergency can be integrated into the new retrofit trays to assist in meeting latest compliance and design requirements.
- Product Supply: All new retrofit trays are electrically tested once a sample has been produced. When the new solution has been checked and approved by the client, an order can be placed via our fabrication team. Deliveries to site are included and can be arranged to suit the project timescales.
- Installation: Choose between installation by our trusted contractors or using your own provider, we will help the installer deliver the project with guidance from us to ensure they have all they need to install with ease. Toolbox talks are included as part of our delivery service.
Our Retrofit & Bespoke Solutions allow for an easy upgrade to LED technology, which is not only more efficient but also necessary due to new regulations that were in force from February 1st, 2024. The sale of T5 fluorescent lamps and all other compact fluorescent types are now banned in Great Britain, following EU regulations. This is mainly because these lamps contain mercury, a hazardous material, and are less efficient than LEDs. The ban aims to reduce mercury pollution and carbon emissions, supporting the UK’s Net Zero goals.
Benefits of the Services and Choosing to Work with Us
Cost-Effective Upgrades: Retrofitting minimizes the need for costly infrastructure changes, offering a budget-friendly path to modernisation.

Sustainability: Support your environmental goals with solutions that contribute to reduced carbon emissions and waste.
Customisation: Tailored solutions that respect the aesthetics of your space while meeting modern lighting standards.
Circular Economy: Retrofit opportunities can promote Circular economy which is an economic model aimed at minimising waste and making the most of resources. It emphasises the continuous use of products and materials, promoting recycling, reuse, and sustainable practices. Circular economy seeks to create closed-loop systems where materials are kept in use for as long as possible, reducing environmental impact and resource depletion.

As a member of BS 5266 I am so excited to see such suitable, diligent, compliant processing from Connected Light. BS 5266 pt. 1 is a Code of practice for the emergency lighting of premises. This is the base document that calls up relevant standards and outlines how they should be interfaced. It also details how types of emergency lighting systems should be designed, installed, commissioned, and tested for different types of premises. Installation and wiring considerations are detailed and the appropriate testing and commissioning documentation are defined.
